USDA SBR Forecast 4/12/2006: Mild spring temperatures remain over the southeastern U.S. this week, with abundant sunshine and little rainfall.
NAPDFC forecast 4/10/2006: Sunny conditions unfavorable for survivable transport from the weak source areas.

States monitoring kudzu, early beans during soybean rust lull
Six weeks have passed since the last confirmed finding of Asian soybean rust (March 3, Miller County, Georgia), but it's not for lack of looking. Soybean specialists in the Southeast continue to comb through newly greening kudzu patches and the earliest sentinel soybean plots, looking for any sign

Report from USDA says rust early warning system worked
The USDA has released a report that evaluates the early warning system for soybean rust surveillance, reporting, prediction and management during the 2005 growing season. Full story.

Red counties are positive for rust, 17 in U.S. New red-hatch counties are rust confirmed/destroyed; 4 so far. Green counties are scouted in '06, no rust found.

U of IL offers report, budget models for planting decisions
Intentions of farmers to plant more soybeans and less corn in 2006 means that relative prices between corn and soybeans have changed, with the change favoring corn production, according to a University of IIllinois Extension report. Full story.
Spray nozzles designed for rust fungicides did well against aphids
While soybean rust did not materialize enough in 2005 for widespread spraying, soybean aphids did in some states, and Greenleaf Technologies said its rust nozzles worked well for insecticides. Full story.
